The short version: this website uses cookies to count visitors and understand which pages are useful. No ad networks, no profiling, and nothing about you is ever sold.
The cookies we use
Our own counter. This website sets a first-party cookie called _ra_uid. It contains a random identifier and stays in your browser for up to 12 months. Its only job is to help us count how many different people visit the site, and to tell a returning visitor apart from a new one.
Google Analytics. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (named _ga and similar) for up to 24 months. These do the same kind of counting — visits, pages, and returning visitors — and they let us see how families find the site. Google processes this data on our behalf as our analytics provider; their handling of it is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
What we measure
Both systems record which pages are viewed, which buttons and links are used, the website that referred you here, your device type (phone, tablet or desktop), and your approximate location — country, and in the case of Google Analytics, sometimes the region or city. Neither identifies you personally, and the random identifiers are not linked to your name, phone number, or anything you share with us when inquiring about care.
What we do with it
The numbers are used for one purpose: understanding how this website is used so we can make it more helpful for families. We do not sell or trade this data, and we do not use it for advertising — there are no ad networks or retargeting pixels on this site. Apart from Google Analytics acting as our analytics provider, we do not share it with anyone.
Your choices
You can delete or block these cookies at any time in your browser settings. To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on. The website works exactly the same either way.
